Welcome to Your Birth!

Your Journey to a Calm, Joyful Birth Begins Here

Hello! I'm Barb Johnson, RNC, CH, and I'm delighted you've found your way here. If you're seeking more calm, comfort, and joy in your birth experience, you're absolutely in the right place.

For over 40 years, I've had the privilege of supporting families as a labor and delivery nurse. I'm certified to teach childbirth education through Marie Mongan's HypnoBirthing International, and I hold certifications as a consulting hypnotist through both the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT).

I founded Your Birth with a clear mission: to educate and empower parents to approach birth with greater calm, confidence, and connection.

Together, you and your partner will explore how to create a physical and emotional environment that feels safe, supportive, and truly yours. Through practical, proven techniques for breath, focus, relaxation, and trust, you’ll learn how to work with your body and support the natural physiology of birth.

But this class is not about achieving an idealized vision of a “perfect birth.”

The transition from pregnancy into parenthood is filled with opportunities for introspection, change, surrender, and growth. Birth is life in its most intimate and vulnerable moments. It can teach us about ourselves, our partners, and the profound capacity of the human body.

My hope is to guide you through this process with knowledge, preparation, and compassion—so that you can meet your birth with confidence, whatever your journey looks like.

Whether your baby arrives through a medicated or unmedicated birth, vaginally or by cesarean, at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, your birth matters. There is no single right way to give birth, and there is no perfect birth story.

What matters is that you feel informed, supported, connected, and empowered throughout the experience.

I’m genuinely excited to meet you and explore your unique vision for this extraordinary day. Your birth story is yours to write, and I’m here to help you approach it with confidence, trust, and joy.

If you desire to develop practical strategies for a smoother, more grounded transition through the portal of birth and into parenthood, I invite you to take this class.

Class Options & Availability

I offer both group and private classes, all held in person for the most connected experience. If you're located out of town or out of state, I'm happy to accommodate you through Zoom sessions that work with your schedule. I will travel “close” to Bozeman (ie: Livingson) for a private class, with a travel fee that will be assessed before you register.

Please check in with me if you are interested in class, and sign up between 22-28 weeks to ensure class availability that fits your schedule and needs. With that said, don’t hesitate to call if you are further along as well.

Current Availability:

  • The next series of Tuesday evening classes will start October 6th and end November 3rd

  • The following series will begin Nov 10th through Dec 8th (if we need some wiggle room for holiday travel it is still open for discussion, please call me) 406 539-3391

  • I will be available for in person private classes as well during October, November, and December.

  • In January of 2027 I will most likely be teaching group and private classes over zoom as I will be out of town.

  • Private classes are available year-round and can be tailored to fit your timeline and preferences if the group schedule does not fit your needs. Private classes are held in the comfort of your home if you live in the Bozeman area.

  • If any of you are interested in a group class Wednesday, Thursday evenings or Saturday or Sunday mornings please reach out, as I am looking in to expanding my group class availability over the Fall-Winter season.

  • Zoom classes available for those of you who do not live in Montana or within 30 miles of Bozeman.

Ready to begin your journey? Give me a call so we can get you and your partner on the schedule. Whether you're drawn to the energy of a group setting or prefer the personalized attention of private instruction, I'll work with you to find the perfect fit.

When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change.

The HypnoBirthing® Philosophy

HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a practical technique for reducing stress and achieving a deeply satisfying birth experience.

Through proven methods of self-hypnosis, intentional breathwork, and powerful visualization techniques, HypnoBirthing® teaches you to release the fear and tension that can interfere with your body's natural birthing process. You and your partner will discover how to trust and support your body's physiology and innate wisdom. This approach honors birth as a natural, healthy process while giving you the tools to work with your body rather than against it, creating the empowering experience you envision.

My Services

Your Birth offers both group and private HypnoBirthing® classes. Each comprehensive series spans five weeks, with one class per week, and each session lasts two and a half hours. If this isn't your first birth and you're seeking a different experience this time, I have something special for you—see "Not My First Rodeo" in the class options. This abbreviated option consists of three focused sessions designed for experienced parents.

I'd love to connect with you before you register for class. This gives us the opportunity to determine together which option might work best for your unique situation. It's also a wonderful chance for us to get to know each other, for you to learn more about HypnoBirthing, and for us to explore your specific educational needs and goals.

Timing Your Classes The ideal time to attend your HypnoBirthing® course is between 24-36 weeks of pregnancy. I recommend calling me by 22-28 weeks to discuss class availability, allowing us plenty of time to find dates that work perfectly with your schedule.

Too close to your birth time? Please contact me so that I can help you make special arrangements.

Please note: This class does not include a comprehensive breastfeeding course. If you prefer local resources: group breast-feeding classes are available monthly through Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital, Gallatin County Health Department and Roots Family Collaborative. Hypo-Birthing International has recently collaborated with and endorses the online Mighty Milk Breastfeeding program. If you are enrolled in a Hypno-Birth course you can receive a 10% discount on their course.

If you live out of Bozeman Montana, please look into your local resources for breastfeeding classes and lactation support or consider the comprehensive online Mighty Milk program.

About Hypno-Birthing®

The Hypno-Birthing® program teaches you and your birth partner the art and joy of experiencing a confident, physiologic birth. You'll learn to call upon your body's own natural endorphins, supporting your birth physiology to decrease the need for additional pain medication and interventions. HypnoBirthing® teaches you to trust your body's innate ability to birth naturally and calmly.

The techniques you'll learn are valuable regardless of how your birth unfolds—whether your journey includes an epidural or cesarean birth. That's precisely why I named my business "Your Birth." This is preparation for your unique journey, your story, your birthing day, whether you envision a home birth, birthing center, or hospital setting.

You'll gain the confidence to collaborate meaningfully with your birth provider and team, making educated decisions that align with your values and desires. The tools and skills you develop through HypnoBirthing extend far beyond birth—these are lifelong skills. You'll master relaxation techniques that serve you in any moment requiring calm, confidence, and clear thinking, while learning approaches that help you become a more present parent, a more connected partner, and a healthier, happier version of yourself.

About me

I'm Barb Johnson, RNC-CH, and I've dedicated over 40 years of my career to supporting families as a labor and delivery nurse, with 31 of those years spent at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital. What drives me every day is my passion for guiding families through one of life's most profound transitions—becoming parents.

My mission is simple yet powerful: to eliminate the myths and fears that too often surround pregnancy and childbirth, while providing compassionate support to women and their partners throughout their entire journey. I believe that when families are educated and empowered, they can approach birth with confidence rather than apprehension.

This belief led me to create Your Birth—a space dedicated to helping parents like you achieve the calm, confident, and deeply connected birth experience you deserve. Every family's story is unique and important. I would be honored to be part of helping you write yours.

What Makes My Birth Preparation Different

My expertise lies with assisting families desiring a low intervention birth, in the hospital setting. With that said, all pregnancies and families can benefit from the tools of HypnoBirthing relaxation techniques, even if your plan includes an epidural. Whether your birth venue is out of hospital birth, in hospital birth, or if your pregnancy includes special circumstances requiring more advanced management, Your Birth can help you achieve a positive birth experience.
